Dublin & Area

As the gateway to Ireland for many visitors, Dublin’s rich cultural and heritage features shine through the moment you arrive.   Staying the city center means a wide range of attractions, galleries and sites to see and most within walking distance of each other.   Shopping is a passion for the Irish,  enjoy fine arcades and North American style malls,  but the pedestrian shopping streets of Grafton St (South of the River) and Henry St. (North of the River Liffey) have it all from the best designers to the local necessity shopping.   Beside the River Liffey is the former warehouse area of ‘Temple Bar’, cobblestone streets, lots of galleries, local artists, lively streets and of course lots of pubs and nightlife to enjoy.   Amazingly, Royal Dublin GC one the countries finest links courses is less than 5 KM from downtown, and is an oasis within the city on Bull Island, where visitors are always warmly welcome.  To the North,  there are both Parkland and Links style Layouts to enjoy such as famed Portmarnock GC or the hidden links gem, the Island GC.   Never far away from the airport, local suburban shopping and picturesque seaside towns, Portmarnock is a perfect base to explore from Beyond the city.

West of the city,  in County Kildare, just 30+ minutes from Central Dublin, past all the horse farms and manor homes, you will find resorts at Carton House (near the quaint town of Maynooth) and the K Club Resort,  home to the 2006 Ryder Cup.  A round on the Palmer-Ryder course is an experience not to be missed.   South of the City, just as you leave Co.Dublin and enter Co.Wicklow,  you will pass between the mountains and enter the real Ireland,  quaint cottages, narrow laneways, locals waving hello, and it seems nearly around each corner - a private Baronial Manor Home,  the scenery seems to be endless.  Here you will find several courses including the picturesque Powerscourt Club and its 36 holes and nearby the Marriott Druids Glen and its 36 holes, each so very different than the other.  It makes a perfect stay and play or golf around style package to the area, just 40 minutes from the city.   Dublin and the Area really does have it all.
